Potentially Unwanted Application

CrossBrowser Removal Tips

While at first glance CrossBrowser looks very professional and useful, there are plenty of reasons to categorize it as a potentially unwanted application (PUA). Developed by CLARALABSOFTWARE, this browser should never have entered your PC in the first place. If you read the following article, you will find out why our research team recommends to delete CrossBrowser as soon as you notice it inside your computer and will learn how it infiltrated your system without your knowledge.

How does CrossBrowser work?

First of all, let us find out how this application entered your computer. It turns out that the PUA came bundled with Desktop Dok, WordProse, PicColor or VuuPC in Amonetize bundles. Since this browser does not have an official website, the possibility that it used this clandestine manner of entrance is quite big. Besides, it might indicate that at least one of the applications mentioned before also resides in your PC, so you should seriously consider the chance that you will have to deal with them after you remove CrossBrowser.

Once it enters your computer, the browser deletes Google Chrome shortcut and replaces it with its own. Since the software is based on the Chromium platform, its interface looks almost exactly the same as Google Chrome. This detail very often helps the intruder fool the users and remain unrecognized for at least a short period of time. The intruder also creates Amazon, Wikipedia, Google, YouTube, and other shortcuts to popular websites.

One more extremely irritating characteristic of this browser is its tendency to present the user with countless commercial advertisements. The goal is to generate traffic to the websites that belong to the third parties sponsored by CrossBrowser. We warn you that this application holds no responsibility over the contents of the ads and it does not monitor them. It was noticed that some of those websites are managed by cyber criminals and some can be a phishing sites. Do not risk the safety of you system and get rid of CrossBrowser.

All these features show that this browser is not safe and you should not trust it. It is obvious that if you care about your system’s safety, you need to eliminate CrossBrowser as soon as possible.

It always says “Close all CrossBrowser windows and try again” – there are no windows open, it’s just something that bugs the Uninstall.

Close the process first. Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Enter task manager and end the process. Then it will work

Right, it says “Close all browzer windows” so how do you do that? It would seem removing it from all browzers first would be the trick.

I’m not an expert but I just had success in removing this nasty malware by right clicking and deleting the crossbrowse icon at the bottom of the screen and deleting the icon from the windows menu. This effectively closes the program so that you can begin the normal uninstall process from the control panel. Good luck

Works very well, the Ctrl+Alt+Delete method. I had the same problems, it would say it was still open, then you just hit these buttons, Task Manager, end Crossbrowser’s icon, then uninstall. Thanks a lot!!!

I had the unfortunate pleasure of downloading a trojan and it came with all sorts of crap — including Crossbrowse. … I’ve had 3 anti-virus programs going to root it out. I uninstalled what I could at the time but it truly has been an all day affair. A learning process but still irritating — especially on my new laptop that’s not even a week old. … Anyway, my question is this:

I still seem to have the Crossbrowse still on my taskbar. No icon, it’s just a blank page but when I restart, after I run my anti-virus programs, it’s still there. How do I get rid of it? I uninstalled it already … that’s the perplexing thing about this.
