Whats is Search Module?
Search Module is a browser hijacker that comes bundled with freeware installers. It has been known to travel with such potentially unwanted applications as YoutubeDownloader, Tuvaro Toolbar, iWebar and others. The program replaces your home page and default search engine without your permission. It has also been associated with adware helpers like Goobzo and ShopperPro.
Search Module is compatible with all popular web browsers including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It is not a safe application and we do not recommend keeping it on your PC. Delete Search Module as soon as you can.
How does Search Module work?
Once Search Module enters your system, you will notice various changes. First of all, it modifies your home page and default search engine. Your engine is replaced by a different search provider named www-search.com. The program also adds a shortcut to your Windows Taskbar. If you click on this icon, you open Internet Explorer and connect to www-search.net, however, before the page loads up, you will be redirected to Bing.com. Since this all happens rather fast, computer users may not realize that something is wrong. And since Bing is a reliable engine, they do not see how important it is to terminate Search Module. Just because the hijacker provides you with this engine, does not mean that it is safe to use.
Aside from messing with your browser settings, Search Module will also present you with useless commercial data that you will see no matter which browser you use or which page you visit. It may expose you to unsafe sites that are harboring malware. Keep in mind that constant redirects, pop-ups, banners and other ads seriously increase the chances of you infecting your PC with a malicious program.
How to remove Search Module from my PC?
You should not hesitate to delete Search Module from your system and return to safe and uninterrupted Internet surfing. In order to get rid of Search Module you should download a malware remover and install it. Then you will be able to use the software to scan your computer, detect all components of the unwanted hijacker and eliminate Search Module completely. Since the program also functions as a malware protection, it will shield your PC from other online threats. Another solution to Search Module removal would be to terminate the hijacker manually.
